My Acer laptop keyboard and touch pad is not working?
How do I know if my motherboard is bad or the keyboard or touch pad is bad. I’m an advance user. I opened the laptop and checked the cables and they are connected fine. How do I troubleshoot the problem?
I don't know what Peter K is talking about but opening a laptop does not make you a less advanced user. I am a laptop tech and I open lots of laptops it does not hurt them, especially the keyboard just a few screws taken out.
I have to say the odds of both your keyboard and keypad going out is slim, so it is probably the system board I/O. There is no way to really fix this other than replacing the board
Have you tried hooking up an external keyboard and mouse. And do you have access to a POST test card.
