Akai Mini Controller

I need a good MIDI controller?

I'm going to be purchasing Ableton studios very soon, and I want a decent MIDI controller. I'd like one with 49 keys, but I also don't want to spend more than $200. I'd really like the Akai MPK 49 but its too expensive for me.

So I'm thinking the M-Audio 49ES

its more basic, has less features, but it still has the pitch bend and modulation control. I also am considering the Akai MPK mini, which has more features, but less keys and no pitch bend and modulation. What would you suggest? Is the M-Audio cheap one a total piece? Or would it get the job done?

If you want to make PC music it should be fine.

2 things jump out at me at first glance.

1) It has only USB no MIDI Ports, so you can only use it with a PC, it can't be used with a MIDI sound Module, e.g. a Roland Sound Canvas or something similar. (Akai MPK 49 has MIDI)

2) The keys are touch sensitive but not weighted so you can't get as much feeling into playing as you would with a weighted / semi wighted keyboard. (AKAI MPK 49 has semi weighted touch sensitive keys)

If you can live without the MIDI ports and semi weighted keys then it should be fine for you.

You also mention the Akai MPK Mini which has touch sensitive keys but the keyboard is very limited with only 25 notes, also the keys are not full sized so it will be difficult to play properly.
