Braced Studio
acl help? anyone ever tore it? =(?
last sunday i tore my acl, partial tear in mcl, and a few tears in the meniscus so i will be having surgery,
i was wondering how long you will not be able to walk on it afterwards and when is the soonest you can start walking ( with brace)
asking this question b/c i am going to florida from colorado a week and a half after my surgery, and was wondering if i need to bring my crutches along with the acl brace and if i will have to refund my tickets for sea world/ universal studios =(
also how did i tear my meniscus like does it happen because of the acl when it tears or what?
Omg, I'm so sorry to hear that. I had almost the exact same thing and I'm currently recovering from it. I'm about 4 weeks post op, so I can help you! I was worried also about walking because crutches in school... just no. Haha. I started walking about a week and a half after I started physical therapy. Though, I started physical therapy 8 days after surgery because they found a blood clot in my calf... not good. You will MOST LIKELY need to bring your crutches with you... Not to scare you, but surgery is alright and all, but after, it is very painful. I was on vikodin, which is very strong, and I was still in a lot of pain. I don't think the first thing you want to be doing is getting up and moving around. The brace I got was from my ankle to my mid thigh, so it was pretty long and cumbersome. I don't want to be a downer, but I don't think you'll be able to do all of those things
. Is it possible to move surgery sooner? Just work hard in pre therapy if your going to it, and then they can probably perform surgery sooner. It's common to tear your meniscus with the acl. It's not like you tear your acl and you automatically tear your meniscus... it just has to do with the way you fell. I strained my mcl at the same time as I tore my acl, but nothing with the meniscus, so I guess it depends on how you fell. I really hope this helps! Good luck to you! If you want, keep in touch... I was you nearly a month ago!
