Which version of The Lion King is the best?

After seeing my favorite movie of Disney Brave Little Toaster and the preview for the Lion King 2: Simba's Pride I become nostalgic for the two films. I saw the two there is a time perhaps on VHS. Anyway, I looked around streams of the Lion King to look online and one of them was this stupid song Zazu sings reports in the morning. Was not that an extra uncessary Lion King 1 / 2? I saw some of that in my old school. Someone bought it in to look and what I saw it seemed the first movie told from the perspective of Timon and Pumbaa. I've seen two DVD releases of movies, but they will probably have to be expensive or stupid, unnecessary extras. I heard on the original DVD movie was altered. So who would be best to buy? I was leaning VHS because we'll have the original movies on it with nothing changed and I can not find an original DVD that was not a recast or an edition special. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have three movies on DVD. The original edition was plantinum. It is this overall who has the "Morning Report" song, however, includes two versions of the film. The original version without the song and a special edition with the song. The animation alteration "is simply the common digitally restored and remastered. I personally saw no difference between DVD and VHS copies DVD excetp that the image is not as grainy as with VHS.
