Tom Snare

My drum set just doesn't sound right. the floor tom and snare drum sound hollow.?

i just got it brand new it's a pearl forum 5 piece

its not the drums. the drums are fine im sure. it takes a lot of time and practice to tune the drums to get a sound that you want. the only way to learn is to do it yourself. read up on some drum tuning techniques. read up on drum heads to determine what the best one for your style is. the durm heads and the way you tune them will have enormous effects on the sound. also, for the snare drum, try a muffling ring. if its a steel shell snare, that might make the sound tighter and more what youre looking for. but remember, its all about the tuning. and tuning isnt something you can explain to someone. they just gotta learn it themselves.
