How do you vacuum a glass test tube?

In science how do you vacuum a glass test tube as we are making a thermometer and want to vacuum it before we put the liquid into it but we're not sure how
Thnx for your help!!! :D

Submerge the test tube in the liquid that you want to put into it and let it fill with the liquid.

Holding the test tube upside down slowly raise it out of the liquid and seal it off just before the open end of the test tube breaks the surface of the liquid.

Since the tube was full of liquid when gravity started to pull the liquid down as you took the test tube out;

And since there was nothing else that could replace the liquid since the open end of the tube was submerged;

Your empty space in the test tube will be a vacuum.

Sealing the test tube is the tricky part!
If you don't have a perfect seal, air will be sucked in to fill the empty space.

(Technically the air will force it's way in due to the pressure differential, but you know what I mean.)
